One county, endless light.
Halden & Vale is the studio of Sussex photographer Elias Halden, making fine-art landscapes of the South Downs and English countryside since 2015.
"I've learned that the best photograph is usually the one after you'd given up."
A former mountain guide, Elias picked up a camera to document the ranges he worked in. Today he spends half the year on location — from Arctic fjords to the Namib — scouting, waiting and returning to the same places until the conditions are right.
Every print is proofed and signed in the Arundel studio, where the Vale half of the name — printmaker Isla Vale — oversees paper, colour and framing.
